About Southwater FC

Southwater FC was founded in 1958 with the clear objective of offering organised football in the village of Southwater. As a two-star accredited football club, our goal is to develop players from our soccer school, through our junior teams, then into our senior teams, and eventually into our veterans’ team. We do this through great coaching, careful pastoral care, and by providing the very best facilities and equipment possible.

Our Club is run by a committee of dedicated people who promote our values of fair play, inclusivity, diversity, and protect the welfare of all participants, whether from our Club, our opponents, or the match officials. We are always looking to add volunteers to help strengthen our committee. If you are interested in joining us, then please contact us

Committee Staff

Chair

James Sambrook

James has been Chair of Southwater FC since 2018, and has taken the Club from strength to strength. He was instrumental in taking the Men’s First Team into the Southern Combination Football League (“County Football”) in 2021, and our Boys’ Under 18s the year after. He set-up our Veterans’ team, and has overseen the growth of our junior teams, who now boast two (and sometimes three) teams in each age group, the creation of a soccer school for those too young to play in a team, and the founding of our Women’s team.

Secretary

Sharon Berriman

Sharon has been a key member of our Club for longer than we can recall. There is a huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure everyone can play football each week, and this work is either overseen, or completed, by Sharon. Her dedication means that we have everything in place to keep our Club running smoothly.

Welfare Officer

Tracy Sambrook

Tracy was the driving force behind the set-up of our soccer school (where she now assists our coach), and our Women’s team (in which she is a player). She also assists Sharon with the secretarial work. However, her primary role is as our Welfare Officer, which is an essential role in any football club, and a key element in our Club’s goals and how we achieve these.

Fixtures Secretary

Ollie Wilkins

Ollie is another who has been with our Club for many years, as player, coach, manager, and committee member. Aside from assisting coaching our women’s team and one of our junior teams, Ollie is responsible for arranging our fixtures and making sure we, our opponents, and the match officials know where they need to be, and when each week.
